Broken Color
This technique is applying oil paint in separate strokes of pure color without blending. If you use this technique make sure you clean your brush frequently every stroke you put down. You should use fairly thick paint so that each stroke keeps its shape on the canvas without letting the paint run down your canvas. This technique was used by some of the old masters such as Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
