from japanese anime drawing to painting

i am into graphic stuff and i've been drawing since I was 5 years old. i was first inspired with japanese anime and it made me want to be an artist. but the problem is, i have zero knowledge about the proper color mixing (if there's really any), i don't know if my japanese anime influenced drawings will help me in painting real human face (in the future) as i find it difficult right now to copy a real face from a picture (because i always have the tendency to add a japanese anime touch to it). i am willing to learn about techniques that would help me become a good painter (in the future)
