Landscape in Oil Painting is One of the Most Popular Subjects

This is the subject that I absolutely LOVE to paint! I started out painting this subject from photos but have gradually gone on to paint outside on location. Its called "En Plein aire". This type of painting has been around along time and was what the artist used to do before the camera was invented. On this page are examples of paintings I have done mainly from painting on location in California. You will learn the subject you like to paint best too.

The painting below is called "Historic Barn" and was painted in California at Diablo Grande area winery. The barn was torn down about a week after I did the painting.



The next painting I put in below is called "Old Oak Tree" and it was painted in the same area as the one above. Notice the bright green of the grass? This tree was near the famous golf course at Diablo Grande. I think this particular tree must be over 100 years old! Its was absolutely beautiful!
