Oil Paint Canvas

If your just starting out to paint with oil paint I recommend you try painting on a canvas pad. It is a pad that has about 10 sheets of canvas you just tear off and use. The only thing about using a canvas pad is you'll have to paint flat on a table or pin it to a board of some type to prop it up for painting on. These pads are one of the most economical ways to paint with oils.

Another option is canvas panels which is canvas glued to some type of heavy cardboard. These are ready to be painted on and you can purchase them from most art supply stores.

Painting panels are similar to canvas panels but are made with a wood core instead of cardboard.

Here is an example of canvas panels, this is a set of two...

Pre-made stretched canvas can be purchased ready to paint on and comes in a variety of sizes. Some pre-made stretched canvas has a wider edge you can paint on and eliminate the expense of framing your piece.

You can also purchase a roll of canvas and attach it to stretcher bars yourself. Usually it is stapled onto the stretcher bars. If you want to make a custom size this is the way to go.
