Palette Knife

A palette knife is a tool used in oil or acrylic painting. You can use the palette knife in a variety of ways. I mainly use mine for mixing my colors or scraping paint from my palette. You can also use the palette knife to actually paint with on the canvas. Palette knifes come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They actually look like miniature cement trowel. They usually have a small wooden handle and are made of metal. I prefer to use my palette knife to mix the paint with over mixing it with my paint brush as it does a better job in my opinion. The picture below is an example of a palette knife. They are very easy to clean off, as you just wipe them off with a paper towel or rag.
