Portrait of mother and child
by: Marilou

This painting is a good attempt at painting portraits. Portrait painting is the most difficult painting to do. I believe some composition changes are necessary in this painting. A good painting should only have one main focus. The focus should be where the highest constrast of light colors and dark colors meet. To see these contrasts you can squint your eyes. If the contrast is not on your mother and child (which is the focus) you need to make those changes. It would be helpful to tone down the mirror table in the background. You can put something else in the background but further work needs to be done on the mother and child. Let me know how you do. Well done on your efforts.
